London Fashion Week with Julien Macdonald
For London Fashion week, I only had my eye for one collection and that was for Julien Macdonald. He celebrating his return back to fashion, how exciting!
For this year I am looking for clothing pieces in a collection that I can see down the carpet for an award show. So, with that said I am doing something different this time. I have paired a celebrity to a dress and gave my opinion on hairstyle and makeup choice I would want them to wear for a future event. Take a look.
You mention to me Rooney Mara and I would say to you, her style is boldly elegant. I can totally picture her wearing this dress down a red carpet. Hair must be pulled back (her signature look) but a bit more edgy like the one above. Have her makeup with a tint of red, keeping her face a bit neutral yet give her a very light smokey eye to accentuate her eyes.
Zendaya always has me clapping and screaming every time she walks a carpet, this girl knows how to dress. I think this dress matched with the necklace would be a perfect outfit choice. I love how it is crafted; it is perfectly draped. Has a peekaboo effect, which accentuates the upper torso. I would have Zendaya wear her hair down in a curly style and keep her makeup neutral with a hint of a blush gloss.
Miley Cyrus has an edgy style. I would love her in this jumpsuit. The illusion of the fabric makes the jumpsuit look like its cut in a way to show skin through the cutouts. I loved when she came out with her pixie cut in 2013, I would like to see her back in that hair style and have her in a smokey eye to make her eyes enhance and brighten as the outfit is already dark a bold red lipstick would make this a strong statement piece.
You are probably looking at this outfit and saying “WHAT, but HOW?” Hear me out, if the designer were to put a sheer covering under the embellished skirt and made it a little longer, I think it would look great for a music award show. Perfect person to showcase this outfit would be Ciara, her hair would be styled back or have her with an edgy bob. Lastly, have the makeup be smokey eyes and everything else neutral and this outfit would in the top 5 best dressed!
I have watched all of Emily in Paris and when this short empire waist bell dress came down the runway, the one person I thought immediately to wear this was Lily Collins. The dress feels young, the color stands out and it can be worn as a crossover from day to night. I would love to see her hairstyle be kept loosely short, her makeup can be 2 looks – if this dress is worn in the day, keep the makeup subtle. Neutral tones with a hint of rose lipstick. If this outfit is for the night, make the eyes smokey but the lipstick a light beige with a hue of salmon pink.
LEGS! Have you guys ever noticed Carrie Underwood’s legs? If you haven’t check them out next time she is performing. She has the best toned legs. I remember flipping the channel and landing on the Country Music awards and she started to come out and it was a dark background and just the light on her, all I noticed was her legs. When I was watching this collection the first person that popped in my mind was her and I said, “this dress would look so good on her”. So, this is the reason why I paired her this dress with her, not only that but this gold really makes her shine. In my opinion, whenever she wears shimmer/embellished pieces she glows, and is always so pretty. It’s best to keep her makeup in a neutral tone, do give her a light brown smokey eye and the lips a light beige hue. For the hair, it’ll be best to have her in a soft ponytail bringing just a few hair pieces to the sides of her face.

My Top 2 Collections from NYFW ’23
What more can I say? Christian Siriano for me is a remarkable and talented fashion designer. I have been a fan of his ever since his win in Project Runway. He understands a woman’s body, for those that don’t know- he includes plus size and for me that’s wonderful! For this collection he took me away by the floral, elegance and the presence of Audrey Hepburn.
Celebrating 20 years in fashion. This Collection must be talked about. The craftsmanship, glamour, and elegance caught my eye. I totally see all these looks down the red carpet for all future award shows.
A Fresh Start

It’s a fresh start to the new year. And if you are anything like me… late for the occasion I am here to say, “you are on time.”
New year resolutions- have you written them down?
You shouldn’t feel as if you missed your chance to do something new. You need to be able to tell yourself, “just do it.”
Repeat after me “The possibility are endless and I am not going to be the one to think I am not capable of it. Because only I, that have dreamt and said “I wish” too many times CAN and WILL be finally able to say YES.”
Believe me, I’ve been here too many times. Year after year I say to myself, “maybe next time.” But screw it, we need to start now.
So grab a pen and paper let’s do this.
How to write a New Year’s Resolution
- Write down goals you know can be achieved in a reasonable amount of time.
- Goals should be realistic.
- Write in future tense.
One thing that helps me is a vision board.
Once you write all your goals down, get a couple of pictures together for each goal and have it hanging on a wall or even as a wallpaper. By having this up, it will make you more motivated to complete.
Now it’s time to focus on our goals because determination is the key for success.
Good luck and happy writing.
The 2020 Grammy Awards

Alicia Keys in Atelier Versace – Dang, her body in this dress reminds me of a Italian statue. Wow, so beautiful. This one shoulder column dress had a high slit thigh action. I love how the silver/metal mesh looked on the stage and the detail on that shoulder was hand embroidered with large Swarovski crystals. It was divine for her entrance. She had 5 outfits for the night, including this one. Overall, this dress was my favorite one of them all. Did you know this dress took almost 600 hours to complete?

Gwen Stefani in Dolce & Gabbana – Guys, she is in love! She took her boyfriend’s last name Shelton, literal. As to wear a strapless SHELL encrusted bell mini dress. This is too cute! Now that I know the little joke between them lets be serious now for one fashion minute. Doesn’t she look stunning? She wore it perfectly with the over the knee boots and that’s taking a risk. You may ask why? Seriously, not everyone can pull this look off. But she sure did and can I get a YEEHAW!

Camila Cabello in Atelier Versace – This was a custom blush pink bustier dress. It had beautiful detail work with the embroidered pearls that were shown on her neck, chest, waist and the wrist. There were Swarovski crystals decorated translucently within the dress. I loved the silk chiffon chemisier that was layered over, it was perfect. Now the performance, the song she sang was “First Man” it brought tears to my eyes. The way she sang to her father that was at the front row was felt through all my bones. It was beautifully written and all my emotions were everywhere. You must hear it if you haven’t yet.

Demi Lovato in Christian Siriano – One word, breathtaking. Welcome back. She looks angelic in this white sparkle sequins gown. I could not look a way because it was well tailored. It had blazer like elements on the bodice but kept it her style with a diamond encrusted corset. We are listening Demi and you have our attention.

Ariana Grande in Givenchy Haute Couture – I adore this strapless emerald ball gown on her. The over sized earrings and the matching colored gloves made the outfit come to life. It reminded me of vintage 1960’s style. I love that she kept her high ombre blonde pony tail and her makeup neutral which was the best choice. This was the last look of her night because she had a total of 5 changes.

Danielle Jonas in J’Aton Couture – Can I please get this dress in my closet? How stunning is this grey embellished – floor length strapless gown? The thigh high slit was the perfect detail on the classic look.

Janina Gavankar in Romona Keveza – She wore a red dress to the red carpet and it was amazing. She reminds me of a bond girl, if she hasn’t played one she should. This one sleeve red chiffon gown dress was effortlessly elegant. I like how it had an asymmetrical design and the detail of a wrap style is what caught my attention because it included a knee high slit. My eyes were drawn from left to right and all around.

Lizzo in White Atelier Versace with Lorraine Schwartz Necklace. Then changed to Christian Siriano for a performance of “Cuz I Love You” .
When she walked the red carpet in the white Atelier Versace my mouth dropped. She look stunning in this floor length embellished gown. I liked that I saw her in this old Hollywood glamour style. Yes, darling! The sweetheart neckline was adorn in Lorraine Schwartz necklaces. The knee high slit and the faux fur shawl were great detail for the overall look.
Onto the other outfit change, when she came out in the black embellished off the shoulder ball gown of Christian Siriano; I couldn’t contain my “YOU GO GIRL!” She looked flawless. I loved that the gown was adorn in crystals, so when the light hit her it shimmered through the TV, it was beautiful and the orchestra playing in the background it looked like a painting. It was breath taking.

Saweetie in Moschino – SEXY, SEXY AND DID I SAY SEXY?! Off the run way, this asymmetrical metallic dress hugged all the right curves.

25th Screen Actors Guild Awards
On Sunday, January 27, 2019 the SAG Awards were presented.
After, looking at some of my recent fashion posts, I wanted to take a moment and change the layout on the way I was posting it. In my opinion, I personally love to talk about how the outfit comes together. Imagine, Joan Rivers on Fashion Police. “Hi, I am Ady from The Mominista.” Except here, there is no criticizing, no bad vibes or worst dressed. I am all about who wore it best!
Here are my nominations for the Best Dressed of the night.

MARGOT ROBBIE
In Chanel
She is stunning from head to toe. This semi-sheer gown made her naturally glow. Perfect match of natural makeup. With hair effortlessly done. I am LOVING it. The plunged neckline to the golden weaving was statuesque.

MANDY MOORE
In Jason Wu
I am not a fan of an all black dress. I am a colored garment girl. BUT WOW. Oh wow, Mandy was bringing it! The encrusted jewel off the shoulder neckline was the pop for me. I also like the belt detail around the waist. I am loving the hair style parted and pulled back into a low pony tail. And the thigh high slit made the dress not so formal, but slightly sexy.

LADY GAGA
In Dior Haute Couture
Channeled old school glamour with a twist. The thigh high slit showed her bodysuit that was assembled to the train. I like the feather like detail on the top. The statement piece looks like a modern day choker by Tiffany & Co. Her dark burgundy lip made the dress look sexy and flattering. Her hair was styled in a low ballerina bun but giving a classic Hollywood wave glam in the front.

RYAN MICHELLE BATHE
In Sebastian Gunawan
This mermaid dress was stunning. The embroidery work is beautifully done. The sheer over the shoulder into a collar is exquisite. The ombre feathers were a hit for me. I am loving that the dress hugged her curves in a flattering way. Hair up was the perfect style for this dress.

JULIA GARNER
In Zac Posen
Hello, Casablanca? Doesn’t she look marvelous? A young Ingrid Bergman mix with a bit of Marilyn Monroe. Yes, Darling! Her look was that of old Hollywood glam and I am loving all of it. The mermaid silhouette was covered in dotted degrade taffeta. The ombre teal effect was as lovely as the off the shoulder neckline with a gathered fold-over detail. The back not seen in this picture was cut in a V shape. The peplum waist accentuated her curves in the best way possible. The coral lip was the finishing touch to this amazing look.

LAVERNE COX
In Zac Posen
My head turned when I saw this sheath satin silhouette hit the carpet. The floor-sweeping hem was cut to the perfect length. What made the dress come life was the custom gemstone embellishment made by Marianna Harutunian on the draped open back. Originally, the dress does not come this way. I love how the dress gracefully falls from a quasi cape detail. This was divine at its finest, darling! Yas, Laverne, Yaaaaaas!

Don’t worry about what other kids say.

Hey Mommas, future Mommas, and soon to be Mommas.
Last week, Rob was picking up Averie from daycare. While I was at work, he called me to let me know something happened. So I panicked a little but kept it cool and asked calmly, “What happened”? He begins to tell me that, when picking up Averie from school he noticed that she looked upset in the playground area. She walked across from him at the water fountain station and began to cry. He asked her what happened?
Backstory
Early that day we got a notification on Class Dojo (If you don’t know, its an app where parents and teachers can communicate) that Averie was the only child to pass the state exam for VPK with a perfect score.
So Rob asked her one more time, “What is wrong Averie?” She now begins to cry and then ugly cry. (You know when the boogers just come out- that’s when you know whatever was bothering really affected her) She begins to tell him while taking deep breaths, “The twins… called me… a DUMB IDIOT!” Begins to cry softly.
As they get into the car, they called me. I could hear Averie weeping quietly and I asked her version of the story. It’s exactly the same. But I wanted to reassure her that I heard it from her mouth not Daddy’s. Deep down inside I was crushed while listening to her tell me the story. How did this just happened? She must’ve asked the twins how they did in their exam. Because that’s who Averie is, she likes to help and loves to learn from others and they crushed it for her. This idea was just running in my head. How do I explain to my child that what others say should not be taken to the heart.
So I calmly tell her, “Averie, sometimes kids will be mean because they do not know how to express themselves. They can be frustrated and the words they choose come out rude. They may not be thinking at that moment. And yes, words can hurt. But remember that in the end of the day, the only people that matter are…. FAMILY. We don’t see you as a dumb idiot. Your are wonderful, beautiful and smart. You are beyond your years. Don’t let her bring you down. Hold your head up! I will see you soon after I get out from work.”
As I told her those words, I tried to hold my own tears and be strong for her. Because this was my first time that I wasn’t there to help her.
When I got home, the first thing I did was to go lay in bed with her. I asked her how she was feeling and she told me better. But in the back of my mind, I knew I had to write her a little note for school as I do everyday. But this time I wanted to tell her how special she truly is to me.
At 6 AM I wrote: Don’t worry about what other kids say. You are smart, beautiful, nice and FABU-LOUS! (Inside joke: she likes to mimic Lamb Lamb from Doc Mcstuffins) Hold your head high. YOU ARE A QUEEN! And ONLY YOU wears the crown! – Love Mom *Excuse my butchering of words, 6 AM and still half asleep*
You are also wondering, does she even read this note? And the answer to that is YES. The teacher sees her reading each note everyday. She has mentioned that is the first time she sees a little girl at her age reading and hugging the note from us. I think it’s a great inspirational note half way through her day.
So with that said, nobody tells you that parenting is easy. It’s a hard job and I wish I could protect her always. But I know she will learn and grow from this experience. With tougher skin.

Golden Globes 2019
Hello,
Fellow moministas, future mominitas, and fashion lovers. Hope you are all doing well. So, a week a go was the Golden Globes.
Backstory:
Let me tell you a little funny story, my television reminds me when important events like this will air. That Sunday morning, I was in Averie and Arya’s room as usual putting TV on for them. The TV then reminded me about the Golden Globes for 8pm, I hit the DVR to record. At 12:05 am on Sunday going into Monday (details are so important, right) I decided to watch it. The girls are in their room, should be sleeping. But now that I think about it… maybe they weren’t.
Any who, I go to check the DVR. Nervous fear set in me. “Did I really record it? I had to. No worries, remain positive. It’s January. New year, new me.” This is what I said on my mind as I turned on the TV. Haha, jokes on me because guess what wasn’t on the list? THE GOLDEN GLOBES! I thought I hit record, I must’ve pressed, no, thanks. I go and check my backup, the guide. Playstation Vue, let’s me watch things from the beginning after a show has ended. “I should be fine”, I said to myself. That’s when I hit to start and it’s unavailable. Great.
So after a week of looking everywhere, asking friends if they had recorded the show to only come empty handed. I can say, I have finally watched it. And at this moment you may ask, “Ady, why didn’t you just watch the carpet, or highlights from the night to find your fashion?” Well, my fashion enthusiasts, I like to watch it all. I was rooting for Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper for, A Star is Born not to mention the entire cast that was nominated for Gianni Versace, American Crime Story and let’s not forget, Queen! I live for the fashion and awards.

October Recap: Halloween
This Halloween, Rob and I decided to dress up the girls as much as possible. After all, a little Hocus Pocus never hurt nobody.

The morning of Halloween, I asked Averie, “What would you like to dress up today?” and she replied, “A fairy, mommy.”

So I got some items from her closet and wa-la…. Fairy Averie.
And for Arya, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, because that’s what I really wanted to go rather than going to work that day.
When I came back home, I wanted them to relax and unwind before trick o treating. Perfect moment for another chance to dress them up.
Averie was Princess Belle

and Arya was Tinkerbell

Did you see what I did there? Belle & Tinker-bell. The bells. I just noticed that. lol
We had them dancing to Halloween songs, just to get them in the mood.

Let me tell you, to get them both ready within an hour is hard. Arya was fussy and Averie did not have a nap and was throwing tantrums.
After it felt like forever, we were ready. Introducing, The Peppas. Mommy pig, Daddy pig, Georg-ina, and Peppa.

Did you notice that this was a DIY costume.
Averie’s dress is an actual t-shirt from the boys section that I cut out. I bought her a long sleeve shirt and stockings. For Rob, I got him a Polo last minute in Walmart. And for me, I bought the dress on sale on Amazon and the long sleeve was bought in Walmart. For Arya, I had a teal long sleeve onsie but after seeing her in the tinkerbell costume I fell in love and left her in that costume instead.

We went around our block but we noticed not many kids were around and the couple of doors we knocked on no one answered. We didnt want Averie to get disappointed so, we ordered pizza to go and headed out to our old neighborhood to trick o treat.

This year was the best, Averie and I were singing along to, “This is Halloween, this is halloween, everyone SCREAM!” and we would scream and laugh.

Best moment of my night, was when Averie and I got scared together. As we were going to a house it looked like a statue was holding candy with a bucket, and all of the sudden it moved! “AHHHHH” we got scared as it began to wave, to our surprise it was only a lady dressed up. She got us real good.

This Halloween it was one to remember. Averie told us “Thank you Mommy & Daddy. Had so much fun!”
