The 2025 Oscars

This past Sunday was the 97th Oscars and these are my picks of best dressed of the night.

From left to right – We first have Raye in a custom Vivienne Westwood. This corset bodice gown accentuated her curves. I especially love the drape effect and the off the shoulder sleeve. This dress was meant for her- 1050’s glamour.

Next is Ariana Grande wearing Schiaparelli haute couture.  This was so whimsical- the bustier dress was in pink satin adorn with rhinestones and crystal sequins in a nude tulle. What I like about this gown is the sculptural effect. The top half was shaped in a clam basque bodice, it extends past the waistline and over the hips- think like the Victorian times. During my research I found that this dress was inspired by an Alberto Giacometti lamp. Such a fresh way to reinvent a style, and I love it.

Demi Moore wore Georgio Armani Prive – the gown was custom made for her; she graced in head-to-toe hand made crystal embroidery. I applaud her stylist, Brad Goreski! The dress had a v plunging neckline, followed by pleated hips and ending it with a train. I wanted to know more about the dress and luckily, I found a Bazzaar article that mentions it took over 18 embroiders which took 1,670 hours to embroider her gown. The craftmanship that took to make 1 dress is remarkable, the hard work paid off because she looked breathtaking.

Selena Gomez Oh my, Oh my! She looked gorgeous! Selena wore a custom dress by Ralph Lauren. It is said that the dress was embrodier with 16,000 glass droplets and crystals. It took 12 artisans to create this gown and not only that, but they hand painted them to give a pink ombre color. Imagine the hours it took to create this piece. The dress is divine the sleeves off the shoulder, the cinch waist and the small train tail and I’m loving her bob look – its giving old Hollywood glam. She has a glow about her the whole night, she looks so happy and so beautiful!

Hello Halle Berry, the gown of the night was that of Christian Siriano. He said he has only been wanting to dress her his entire life and he finally did. He did not disappoint. Halle wore a strapless gown made from 7,000 mirrored crystals. You can’t see it on this picture, but the side of the dress showed sheer panels with crystals the gown was that of a fitted bodice and a maxi mermaid skirt with a small tail train. This was remarkable, this was an art piece; very mosaic inspired.

Ariana Grande opened the Oscars with a performance which she changed to another Schiaparelli haute couture. She wore a ruby red strapless ball gown that was embroidered in 150,00 sequins and beads. During the performance – if you caught for a quick glimpse, the back of her dress had a 3D vintage shoe. Hence, Ruby red slippers anyone? Love that this award season she has paid homage to her film.

Mindy Kaling wore Oscar de la Renta, you can’t see the details here, but silhouette had a sheer panel and if you look closely it was covered in metallic leaf embellishment. I like the texture, the halter neck gown with a small train and the dramatic makeup look. It all paired well.

The 2025 Grammys

The Grammy’s were held on February 2, the styles are in and here is my review on best dress.

The theme I saw most popular down the red carpet was that of gold/silver embellishments.

Let’s start with GloRilla. She wore Lena Berisha. I didn’t know about this designer before but once I looked her up, I am intrigued on ALL her dresses. The designer, Lena Berisha is a well known in the fashion industry as a bridal designer yet makes elegant custom-made couture dresses as well. Truly a stunning dress. GloRilla has modern elegance in the dress; the tailoring suits her. I love the flowing drape she has towards the hip.

Up next is Beyonce. She wore a custom Schiaparelli. I love that she paid homage to Cowboy Carter as the pattern on the dress looks like a bandana. She looks rejuvenated. I like how the silhouette hugged her figure, the cutout below the bust was a great detailed she paired it well with the gloves.

Paris Hilton wore Chrome Hearts. Her dress gave me a feel that we were back to the 70’s. She emitted an energy of Cher with aviator glasses, and this sheer embroidered v neck plunging dress. I loved how she gracefully played with the sheer cape down the red carpet.

Heidi Klum was dressed from Lebanese designer Nicolas Jebran. Straight out from the Spring Summer 2025 couture. She looked glamours in the sequin strapless gown. I love the intricated details.

Madison Beer- I knew that dress once she came on the red carpet because I just wrote about it. She wore Miss Sohee Spring 2025 couture. Madison radiated in the mermaid sheer hand embellished gown.

Taylor Swift  dazzled in a red one-shoulder sparkly mini dress from Vivienne Westwood. She completed the look with T rosary on her upper thigh, giving a nod to her song Gulty as Sin lyric “What if he is write mine on my upper thigh”. She ate that look, Taylor has legs for days she looked like a runway supermodel, simply gorgeous!

Chappell Roan will be our next fashion muse! She is showcasing to be a fashion icon, she is an activists, and her makeup is breathtaking! She wore a vintage Jean Paul Gaultier couture dress. Over 22 years to be exact. The gown has a printed Degas painting on the tulle. If you haven’t seen the painting or any artwork, please look up Edgar Degas paintings. They are a realistic portrayal of modern life. He uses asymmetrical/ vantage points and artificial lights in his artwork. He was well known in 19th century to paint Parisian ballet dancers. I remember from art class back in high school having to study his paintings – so beautiful, so figured focused and realistic. I want to give a shout out to her stylist, Genisis Webb – who dressed her and executed a masterpiece. Deep down I feel like that several of her looks were a French motif of Viva La Resistance and I get it. I see it.

Charli XCX wore Jean Paul Gaultier custom. The gown displayed an abundance of ruffles in a dramatic yet glamours way. I love the detail of the cinched corset in the middle which accentuated her waist. I adore the fact that the ruffles were over the shoulder top, but it wasn’t over done as the V neckline gave a subtle exposure of skin yet by doing this it created a longer silhouette to the eye. The color ashy grey with I would say had a hint of blue tint goes well with her dark hair. The makeup was paired well with this look. The open toe high boots gave a bit of a punk mix to it as well.

Latto was classy and gave glamour. She was channeling a modern version of Marilyn Monroe. She wore Alexandre Vaulthier couture. She paired it with a white fur shawl somewhat like a boa that draped down to the floor. In other pictures you would see that the back of the dress had a scoop neckline, and the sides of her hips had peekaboo triangle cut outs. Overall, Latto was gracefully beautiful.

I had to point out the three outstanding looks that Sabrina Carpenter brought!  Very Old Hollywood glam and I infatuated with it because she can pull this off.

When she arrived at the Grammys, she first walked the red carpet in a baby blue silk custom gown by JW Anderson. From the front of the peplum fitted gown, you can detail a halter neckline. Once she turned around, she gave the audience a jaw dropping moment – the silhouette was scooped down tailoring her body and held by a beautiful Choprad necklace. Love the hint of feathers along the hem both at the hip and bottom of the gown.

The next outfit of the night was of her performance. She wore a custom baby blue strapless sweetheart bodice body suit by Dolce & Gabbana. Very showgirls – maybe a Las Vegas residency in the near future? I love her performance her acting, dancing and singing was marvelous.

The last look of the night was of a custom gold sweetheart neckline strapless gown by Versace. Looking like an award herself she radiated the night.

Paris Haute Couture Spring 2025- Georgio Armani Prive

Georgio Armani has been showcasing designs for many years. But this year it is special because its one to celebrate marking 50 years down the runway. If you didn’t know Georgio Armani Prive is the Haute Couture line for Georgio Armani. This collection has a classic elegance while balancing modernity. Each piece is a work of art. The tailored gowns are sleek yet sophisticated with intricated details like the handcrafted embellishments. The crisscross drapery technique used is remarkable- please note that this method is shaping the fabric by hand into folds, I have always been fascinated when a designer can excel in this skill as it’s a time consuming, yet it adds value. There is one garment that I questioned. “What was it composed of?” It was the purple metallic possibly with a sheer fabric; it made it look like a luxury liquid fabric. It was astounding. My opinion overall of this collection is exquisitely everlasting as it’s brand.

Paris Haute Couture Spring 2025- Schiaparelli & Georges Hobeika

Paris Haute Couture Spring officially started on 01/27/25. When I view fashion shows- I put myself as a stylist. And I ask myself, “Who would wear this piece, where would they wear it? and will it be on the best dress list?” Then I make my decision accordingly. These are my selections from the collections that attract my personal admiration.

SCHIAPARELLI

Elegance, elegance, elegance. I’ll keep this simple – as I would love you to check out the piece Daniel Roseberry wrote on Schiaparelli.com/en I love the fact the designer had the time to write about the collection and connect with the reader/viewer. This collection called Icarus, reminded me of the silhouette’s I studied in my college Fashion History class of the 1920’s and 30’s. Away with the over stalked clothing as less is more. The colors worn were inspired by ribbons that were hidden away when Germany invaded France. The use of butter, saffron, very light colors are appealing to the eye. A round of applause is needed for the ateliers as each of the garments down the runway were created in a seamless effect – truly remarkable.

GEORGES HOBEIKA

STUNNING- You should hear me behind this screen, “WOW-how beautiful!” Let’s talk about the embroidery the craftmanship- the attention to details Georges Hobeika has done in this collection. Standing ovation on my behalf! My selection had to be done in two because that’s how much garments I can see styled on a celebrity. Let me tell you, if you aren’t aware Beyonce, Lily collins, Cardi B are a few to name that have worn Georges Hobeika. A little backstory about the designer, he is a Lebanese fashion designer and has been showcasing his collections in Paris for over a decade. As I was researching on this collection, I was taken back to learn that this collection was a tribute to his mother and grandmother who passed away last year. If you look at the beginning of the runway you can notice 3 model’s wearing running mascara down their face. The color choices began with black much like a somber feel, then transition to colors of blues, greens, reds, purple, pink and then to an abundance of refreshing lights of golds, silvers to white. This collection spoke without words and its impact was heavenly.

London Fashion Week with Julien Macdonald

For London Fashion week, I only had my eye for one collection and that was for Julien Macdonald. He celebrating his return back to fashion, how exciting!

For this year I am looking for clothing pieces in a collection that I can see down the carpet for an award show. So, with that said I am doing something different this time. I have paired a celebrity to a dress and gave my opinion on hairstyle and makeup choice I would want them to wear for a future event. Take a look.

You mention to me Rooney Mara and I would say to you, her style is boldly elegant.  I can totally picture her wearing this dress down a red carpet. Hair must be pulled back (her signature look) but a bit more edgy like the one above. Have her makeup with a tint of red, keeping her face a bit neutral yet give her a very light smokey eye to accentuate her eyes.

Zendaya always has me clapping and screaming every time she walks a carpet, this girl knows how to dress. I think this dress matched with the necklace would be a perfect outfit choice. I love how it is crafted; it is perfectly draped. Has a peekaboo effect, which accentuates the upper torso. I would have Zendaya wear her hair down in a curly style and keep her makeup neutral with a hint of a blush gloss.

Miley Cyrus has an edgy style. I would love her in this jumpsuit.  The illusion of the fabric makes the jumpsuit look like its cut in a way to show skin through the cutouts. I loved when she came out with her pixie cut in 2013, I would like to see her back in that hair style and have her in a smokey eye to make her eyes enhance and brighten as the outfit is already dark a bold red lipstick would make this a strong statement piece.

You are probably looking at this outfit and saying “WHAT, but HOW?” Hear me out, if the designer were to put a sheer covering under the embellished skirt and made it a little longer, I think it would look great for a music award show. Perfect person to showcase this outfit would be Ciara, her hair would be styled back or have her with an edgy bob.  Lastly, have the makeup be smokey eyes and everything else neutral and this outfit would in the top 5 best dressed!

I have watched all of Emily in Paris and when this short empire waist bell dress came down the runway, the one person I thought immediately to wear this was Lily Collins. The dress feels young, the color stands out and it can be worn as a crossover from day to night. I would love to see her hairstyle be kept loosely short, her makeup can be 2 looks – if this dress is worn in the day, keep the makeup subtle. Neutral tones with a hint of rose lipstick. If this outfit is for the night, make the eyes smokey but the lipstick a light beige with a hue of salmon pink.

LEGS! Have you guys ever noticed Carrie Underwood’s legs? If you haven’t check them out next time she is performing. She has the best toned legs. I remember flipping the channel and landing on the Country Music awards and she started to come out and it was a dark background and just the light on her, all I noticed was her legs. When I was watching this collection the first person that popped in my mind was her and I said, “this dress would look so good on her”. So, this is the reason why I paired her this dress with her, not only that but this gold really makes her shine. In my opinion, whenever she wears shimmer/embellished pieces she glows, and is always so pretty. It’s best to keep her makeup in a neutral tone, do give her a light brown smokey eye and the lips a light beige hue. For the hair, it’ll be best to have her in a soft ponytail bringing just a few hair pieces to the sides of her face.

Critics Choice Awards 2020

25th Critics Choice Awards

The 25th annual of the Critics Choice Awards was aired on January 12, 2020. I have finally watched it and here are my top 4 picks of The Best Dressed.

J.LO

J.Lo in Georges Hobeika – Grace and Elegance is what J.lo brings this look to life. The champagne hue looks so well on the blue carpet. The silhouette hugged all her curves to perfection. The back of the dress had a sheer mesh and the neckline and waist were studded in jewelry, which I adored! She paired the look with Harry Winston’s chandelier drop earrings and a matching Jimmy Choo clutch.

ZENDAYA

Zendaya in Tom Ford – She brought the warrior queen to this look. I personally love the monochromatic/futuristic feel. The high neck , sleeveless and asymmetrical top is a fashion forward in my little black book of fashion. She paired it well with the maxi skirt and braided hair. The hue of fuchsia was perfect on her skin tone, I love how she accentuated the color in her eyes and nails.

ANNABELLE WALLIS

Annabelle Wallis in Moschino – I love the plunging v-neck line in the sequins dress. The shoulders were draped showing a slit of skin. As Annabelle turned around you were able to see the exposure of her back which was beautiful.

ANNE HATHAWAY

Anne Hathaway in Atelier Versace – Hello, there mama of two. This was the first time she had walked a carpet after giving birth to her 2nd child. And she looks stunning! She gave me a retro feel. What I love about this shimmery gold gown is the billowing sleeves and the plunged v-neckline that made it sexy. Correct me if I am wrong, I barely see her doing something so risky as this or could that be my mom brain failing me again? Oh well. Overall, she had a glow with her natural makeup and loose hair, which was mesmerizing.

Golden Globe Awards 2020

Golden Globes Best Dressed 2020

A little late but better than ever. You know, #momlife when I finally had time to watch the DVR. Here are my choices for Best Dressed from The Golden Globe Awards 2020.

Taylor Swift in Etro

talor swift

When she came on the red carpet I absolutely loved this floral over sized gown. I saw it from the back (I personally love that pose) and when she turned around and I saw the peekaboo triangle on her stomach I was floored. This is was perfect for Taylor and her style. Her jewelry was minimal and I loved how effortlessly her hair looked pushed back upward.

Scarlett Johansson in Vera Wang

scarlett johansson

How happy did Scarlett Johansson looked on this night, am I right? She looked divine. She wore this custom frock dressed by Vera Wang. I loved the v-neck plunge line which made her look oh, so sexy and the dramatic bow train. Red is a hard color to wear especially on a red carpet but she nailed it. Her statement necklace and jewelry were from BVGLARI which paired well with the strapless dress. Am I see a trend with hair? It was slicked back into a bun and I love it!

Phoebe Walter Bridge in Ralph & Russo

phoebe walter

So I am not much of a suit unless you can pull it off. And phoebe did just that! She wore a two piece tweed suit and what drove my attention was the metallic thread that shined, it looked like the seamstress took their time on it. The plunged v-neck line made this outfit sexy where her hair let down made it look edgy as well. I also loved, the detailed pin on the shoulder. I was totally getting, Mick Jagger vibes. Rock On!

Renee Zellweger in Armani

renee zellweger

OH.M.GEE! This strapless elegant dressed made me wonder as soon as it hit the carpet, “How did they keep it wrinkle free?” haha, you should’ve seen my jaw hit the floor. It was beautifully made by Armani Prive. Such minimal dress but yet the slit that showed her toned leg made it look sexy. The diamond detail on the border of the dress were the perfect touch.

Reese Witherspoon in Roland Mouret

reese witherspoon

Hello Glamour. This asymmetric gown was just gorgeous on Reese. I wonder as the night went how her dress was. I always love to wear white but when I do I get dirty, never fails! Overall, the slick back hair over the ears and the Tiffiani & co. jewelry made it look effortless.

Anna de Armas in Ralph & Russo

ana de armas

Can I point out how Anna is channeling Audrey Hepburn? The strapless deep blue ball gown was embellished in sequins, which was perfect for the flashlights. What I loved most about this dress was the hidden pockets that you could not tell it had. Who doesn’t love pockets on a dress, right? Adorned in Tiffany jewelry with a pop of a red lip made the outfit come to life.

Zoey Deutch in Fendi

zoey deutch

Can you believe this is a jumpsuit and not a dress?! I repeat, this is not a dress. It got me fooled and I LOVE IT! It looks so flattering on her and the puffy sleeves don’t make this look costumey, it’s more of a statement and the way the dress is constructed is well made. She is truly a sunshine because the color scheme of yellow works well with her skin tone paired with her auburn hair and hues of blues with the jewelry was on point. The hair pulled back behind her ears make it look clean with minimal makeup and a touch a light pink lipstick. The deep plunged neck line made her titanic jewelry look by, Harry Winston look extraordinaire. Best look of the night by far!

Jeannie Mai in Elisabetta Franchi

jeannie mai

What caught my attention from the TV was the beaded bodice. Then I noticed it was a jumpsuit, which did not make her look shorter, not sure why I assume Jeannie is shorter than me. But hey, that’s what I imagine. The look actually made her look taller and I love that she added a red lipstick for the pop of color.

Renee Bargh in Tony Maticevski

Renee Bargh

I liked the one- shoulder asymmetric neckline gown completed by a flowy cape from behind. The slit showed her tone leg and the belt was cinched at the waist. In the middle of the chest was a cut opening which was not too revealing. The one thing I would’ve changed is the spikes on the belt, I would’ve liked a more slicked/cleaned belt.  Overall this look was perfect for the globes.

Taking it Back – The Girls

As a mother, have you ever just watched your kids and just studied their facial features? Yes, it may sound creepy. But I tend to look at how they have aged, in amazement. On this particular day it was just about that. I was in love watching the girls play with blocks. Then, I took the camera and took advantage in capturing their face expressions. They have plenty, just look for yourself.
