Paris Haute Couture Spring 2025- Schiaparelli & Georges Hobeika

Paris Haute Couture Spring officially started on 01/27/25. When I view fashion shows- I put myself as a stylist. And I ask myself, “Who would wear this piece, where would they wear it? and will it be on the best dress list?” Then I make my decision accordingly. These are my selections from the collections that attract my personal admiration.

SCHIAPARELLI

Elegance, elegance, elegance. I’ll keep this simple – as I would love you to check out the piece Daniel Roseberry wrote on Schiaparelli.com/en I love the fact the designer had the time to write about the collection and connect with the reader/viewer. This collection called Icarus, reminded me of the silhouette’s I studied in my college Fashion History class of the 1920’s and 30’s. Away with the over stalked clothing as less is more. The colors worn were inspired by ribbons that were hidden away when Germany invaded France. The use of butter, saffron, very light colors are appealing to the eye. A round of applause is needed for the ateliers as each of the garments down the runway were created in a seamless effect – truly remarkable.

GEORGES HOBEIKA

STUNNING- You should hear me behind this screen, “WOW-how beautiful!” Let’s talk about the embroidery the craftmanship- the attention to details Georges Hobeika has done in this collection. Standing ovation on my behalf! My selection had to be done in two because that’s how much garments I can see styled on a celebrity. Let me tell you, if you aren’t aware Beyonce, Lily collins, Cardi B are a few to name that have worn Georges Hobeika. A little backstory about the designer, he is a Lebanese fashion designer and has been showcasing his collections in Paris for over a decade. As I was researching on this collection, I was taken back to learn that this collection was a tribute to his mother and grandmother who passed away last year. If you look at the beginning of the runway you can notice 3 model’s wearing running mascara down their face. The color choices began with black much like a somber feel, then transition to colors of blues, greens, reds, purple, pink and then to an abundance of refreshing lights of golds, silvers to white. This collection spoke without words and its impact was heavenly.

My Top 2 Collections from NYFW ’23

What more can I say? Christian Siriano for me is a remarkable and talented fashion designer. I have been a fan of his ever since his win in Project Runway. He understands a woman’s body, for those that don’t know- he includes plus size and for me that’s wonderful! For this collection he took me away by the floral, elegance and the presence of Audrey Hepburn.

Celebrating 20 years in fashion. This Collection must be talked about. The craftsmanship, glamour, and elegance caught my eye. I totally see all these looks down the red carpet for all future award shows.

Goodwill – Memories

Goodwill

I would admit now, that I hold on to items in my home. No, I’m not a hoarder. But you know sentimental things like, onesies the girls wore that carry a personal story behind it. Or specific toys that they would play with. I take things like this very personally. Two weeks ago, I did my first donation at Goodwill.

Backstory: I cleaned out my closet and I had a bag of my clothes and some baby clothes too. But I also had the car sear that both Arya and Averie used when they were babies. I remember vividly, both car rides home from the hospital when each of the girls were born.

Fast forward now, these items had been in my car for a while, never having the guts to donate it. Until I was watch YouTube Blogger, Brianna K (if you don’t follow this mommy, you should.) and on this specific video she was donating two car rides full of items and said how good it felt to donate. Well that same day I said, “It is time.”

As I left work during my lunch break to Goodwill it began to rain badly. I hesitated and told myself, “Maybe, this is a sign not to go?” but then I changed my mind and went.

I pulled up on the side, the doors opened and I was greeted by an associate whom I gave the bag of clothes to. Then I uttered, “Do you accept car seats?” I assumed they didn’t due to liability reasons. And he said, “yes.” As I was handing it over, he stated “Oh no, I think our system is down.” I immediately thought it was another sign in my mind I said, “God is that you? But why would I need the car seat if the girls out grew it, right?”

I told him, “Sir, I honestly do not know how this works. It is my first time.” He handed me a paper document to fill out, which to my surprise it was a receipt that I can now claim as a charitable deduction on my federal tax return. When we were done, I walked towards the car and I sat.

An overwhelming feeling came over me as I starred at the rainy window and began to cry. You may tell me, “Ady, but why are you crying?” I know, yes it’s just material things that I am crying about but now I’ve learned something that I never knew before.

I hold onto memories. Good memories. Now giving these items away feels like the girls are growing up. Even little Arya would crawl into the car seat now and watch TV.

As sad as it sounds to me to be giving something sentimental away, it brought me peace to know that possibly another family would need it more than me. With that said, I turned on the car, wipes my tears and the car windshield. I said a “Thank you” like Marie Kondo and drove away.

I now know something I never knew before, that I collect memories but it’s ok to donate those material items on your own time.

25th Screen Actors Guild Awards

On Sunday, January 27, 2019 the SAG Awards were presented.

After, looking at some of my recent fashion posts, I wanted to take a moment and change the layout on the way I was posting it. In my opinion, I personally love to talk about how the outfit comes together. Imagine, Joan Rivers on Fashion Police. “Hi, I am Ady from The Mominista.” Except here, there is no criticizing, no bad vibes or worst dressed. I am all about who wore it best!

Here are my nominations for the Best Dressed of the night.

margot robbie

MARGOT ROBBIE

In Chanel

She is stunning from head to toe.  This semi-sheer gown made her naturally glow. Perfect match of natural makeup. With hair effortlessly done. I am LOVING it. The plunged neckline to the golden weaving was statuesque.

mandy moore

MANDY MOORE

In Jason Wu

I am not a fan of an all black dress. I am a colored garment girl. BUT WOW. Oh wow, Mandy was bringing it! The encrusted jewel off the shoulder neckline was the pop for me. I also like the belt detail around the waist. I am loving the hair style parted and pulled back into a low pony tail. And the thigh high slit made the dress not so formal, but slightly sexy.

lady gaga

LADY GAGA

In Dior Haute Couture

Channeled old school glamour with a twist. The thigh high slit showed her bodysuit that was assembled to the train. I like the feather like detail on the top. The statement piece looks like a modern day choker by Tiffany & Co. Her dark burgundy lip made the dress look sexy and flattering. Her hair was styled in a low ballerina bun but giving a classic Hollywood wave glam in the front.

ryan michelle bathe

RYAN MICHELLE BATHE

In Sebastian Gunawan

This mermaid dress was stunning. The embroidery work is beautifully done. The sheer over the shoulder into a collar is exquisite. The ombre feathers were a hit for me. I am loving that the dress hugged her curves in a flattering way. Hair up was the perfect style for this dress.

julia garner

JULIA GARNER

In Zac Posen

Hello, Casablanca? Doesn’t she look marvelous? A young Ingrid Bergman mix with a bit of Marilyn Monroe. Yes, Darling! Her look was that of old Hollywood glam and I am loving all of it. The mermaid silhouette was covered in dotted degrade taffeta. The ombre teal effect was as lovely as the off the shoulder neckline with a gathered fold-over detail. The back not seen in this picture was cut in a V shape. The peplum waist accentuated her curves in the best way possible. The coral lip was the finishing touch to this amazing look.

LAVERNE COX.png

LAVERNE COX

In Zac Posen

My head turned when I saw this sheath satin silhouette hit the carpet.  The floor-sweeping hem was cut to the perfect length. What made the dress come life was the custom gemstone embellishment made by Marianna Harutunian on the draped open back. Originally, the dress does not come this way. I love how the dress gracefully falls from a quasi cape detail. This was divine at its finest, darling! Yas, Laverne, Yaaaaaas!

10 Questions to Answer by the Age of 30

Hello, mommas, future mommas, soon to be mommas and if you are new to this page welcome.

Let me reintroduce myself, my name is Adysbel. How do you pronounce it? Ah-dis-bell. You can call me Ady for short. In this post, I thought it would be best to let you get to know me a little better.  I’ve done a lot of reflecting lately, and it may be due to all the constant feed on my Facebook of my former classmates turning 30 this year.

I think that by the age of 30, you should be able to answer some important life questions.

Here are my 10 questions

1- What is one advice I would’ve given myself at age 23?

Take your time. Invest. Don’t spend money, save instead. Move out to your own apartment. Travel the world.

2- In what ways can I be kinder to myself?

Stop trying to be the perfect cleaning mom. I have a problem, I always am cleaning. And I become overwhelmed with a dirty room. I need to relax about having an apartment with kids clean 100% of the time. I can improve by cleaning one room at a time and be satisfied. At least something was done, right?

3-  What is my definition of success?

Write down your goals. Don’t give up. Put in the work. Stay motivated. It doesn’t matter how long it takes you, crossing one completed goal off at a time is success.

4-  What is one thing you are tired of hearing?

I irk, when someone says they are “tired” especially, if they don’t have kids. I used to say this all the time when I was young and until now I understand the TRUE meaning. Saying this to a mother is just plain WRONG. You do not know what tired is until you have kids. Most moms are already sleep deprived at 8  months pregnant. You may ask why, that is because you can barely breathe, let alone sleep in a comfortable position. You better ONLY be “tired” if you are in school, caring for someone or working on achieving your goals. Not just because you are “tired”.

5-  Where do I see myself in 5 years?

I see myself running my own business, working on what I love and having my own schedule to focus more on family.

6-  Do I care what other people think about me?

Let’s be honest, I may never stop caring but I think by my 30’s I will let it stop affecting me.

7-  Should I feel guilty about cutting someone off?

I have learned from my 20’s that not all friendships are worth my time and energy. And that’s OK. Family is what’s most important. They will always be there with open arms, to help and guide.

8- Who inspires me?

After watching his Nextflix Documentary, I am Not Your Guru. I started listening to Tony Robbins. Whenever I am in doubt, feeling down, need motivation; I go for walks at the park with the girls and I put it him on, his words clear my mind.

9- What do I feel most proud of?

My girls. I think, they have taught me the meaning of life. I view what they learn through a new perspective.

10- What is my current song anthem?

High Hopes by Panic at the Disco. The lyrics speak volumes to me.

Golden Globes 2019

Hello,

Fellow moministas, future mominitas, and fashion lovers. Hope you are all doing well. So, a week a go was the Golden Globes.

Backstory:
Let me tell you a little funny story, my television reminds me when important events like this will air. That Sunday morning, I was in Averie and Arya’s room as usual putting TV on for them. The TV then reminded me about the Golden Globes for 8pm, I hit the DVR to record. At 12:05 am on Sunday going into Monday (details are so important, right) I decided to watch it. The girls are in their room, should be sleeping. But now that I think about it… maybe they weren’t.

Any who, I go to check the DVR. Nervous fear set in me. “Did I really record it? I had to. No worries, remain positive. It’s January. New year, new me.” This is what I said on my mind as I turned on the TV. Haha, jokes on me because guess what wasn’t on the list? THE GOLDEN GLOBES! I thought I hit record, I must’ve pressed, no, thanks. I go and check my backup, the guide. Playstation Vue, let’s me watch things from the beginning after a show has ended. “I should be fine”, I said to myself. That’s when I hit to start and it’s unavailable. Great.

So after a week of looking everywhere, asking friends if they had recorded the show to only come empty handed. I can say, I have finally watched it. And at this moment you may ask, “Ady, why didn’t you just watch the carpet, or highlights from the night to find your fashion?” Well, my fashion enthusiasts, I like to watch it all. I was rooting for Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper for, A Star is Born not to mention the entire cast that was nominated for Gianni Versace, American Crime Story and let’s not forget, Queen! I live for the fashion and awards.

Hurricane Irma

On September 3, Rob and I were sitting on the couch watching channel 7, WSVN. The weather forecast was showing that a hurricane was forming and it looked like it was coming for us.

Rob told me, “Watch it will miss us.”

I think he said that to calm my nerves. Because my mind was swirling through a million of thoughts at the same time. “Where would we go?” “I have a baby.” “She needs water and formula.” “I need toys and entertainment for Averie.” Then I snapped out of it when I remembered that I went this crazy for tropical storm Erika that was supposed to land and become a hurricane when it touched Florida. At that time, Averie was barely 2 months and I literally bought ALL the unnecessary items because it never came. So, can this happen again?

I then decided to go on Facebook.

This is something I do everyday just to check up on social media news. A friend of ours, Eric posted models showing different paths that the hurricane may take, the possibility of it being a category 4 or 5 and that made me interested yet worrisome. He stayed focus on models showing that it would come towards us. I messaged him and asked him for advice. All I got from that conversation was that we should pack before the media creates a chaos!

Great, just when we were going to start; the next day the media announced to start prepping. Chaos erupted. First thing I did was to put gas in my car, it was Monday and I was late for work and lines were already starting. I told myself, “I hope I don’t need to come back to the gas station.” I always have seen people on TV making lines and I had no patience for watching that or even want to be in it. To my luck, because of work, I had to get gas again before the Hurricane hit us. I woke up at 6am and waited 20 mins. Yup, tell me about.

Next thing I did was go to the grocery store. Have you ever seen World War Z , Contagion, or Zombieland (personal note, I got Twinkies in homage to Woody Harrelson. LOL) You know the part at the grocery store? People a bit chaotic, you looking for specific item. Yup, that scene was playing in real life. Except, no zombies or viruses. Only, empty shelves. No water. No batteries. No candles. Nothing left.

At one point I did feel hopeless, finding water for Arya. Yes, I buy baby water. I know you can just boil water and it will be OK. But I normally just buy it. I went to Babies R Us twice and both times they had no water. When I asked if they were getting a shipment they said “The shipment has been stopped due to the Hurricane”. A piece of me cringed. I wondered if other mother’s were in the same need as me. I thankfully, got a full months worth of formula, just incase. Rob’s mother ended up finding us water.

We packed our bags (I over pack for all possibilities) and got things prepped and bordered at our home and left to ride the storm at Rob’s parents house.

When the storm was approaching we had light. We had prepared stations of first aid kit and a location for candles, batteries, and flashlights. Averie played as much on her tablet while we watched the news.

Right after the girls finished taking a shower… LIGHTS OUT. And they remained off during the storm. All you can hear is the howling wind gust. In the back of the house was hurricane windows so those weren’t covered. There were times that when you looked outside it was pure white. It was breathtaking, the power of mothernature. What kicked in my anxiety was the constant emergency text blasting on all the cellphones of possible of tornados in the area. The heat was unbearable. The fact that I did pack one fan for Arya, wasn’t enough. Round the clock showers were constantly made for them so they wouldn’t get fussy. I know better now.

The girls weren’t aware how serious this was. I told Averie that there was a big storm coming with lots of rain and wind. And she was fine with it. I brought her toys and coloring books to keep her entertained. Arya is to little to know what’s going on but I made sure to let her know that mommy and daddy and Averie were with her.

This experience was truly an eye opener. I have experienced it as a child and didn’t think much of it. All I cared for when I was small was no school and I could sleep in. But now experiencing it as a mother, was an anxiety whirlwind. I believe seeing Hurricane Harvey hit Texas weeks before made us feel like we could be the ones in their shoes. That devastation could happen here and it made me prep a lot more. I even bought life vests just in case of flooding. Yes, extremely overboard but safety and peace of mind is at the top of my list when prepping.

It has taken a while for me to write, as I was getting our lives back to normal and back to a routine. I am grateful. Hurricane Irma’s aftermath only left us with broken down trees and power outages. This experience has taught me that it’s better to prepare on time and that family is most important.

Recap- First Week Back to Work

08.28.17.jpg

A bittersweet feeling came over me last Sunday night. I was torn with the thought of going back to work and leaving my two daughters behind. I was already used to our routine, waking up and having breakfast, our daily reading and our dance parties. But I knew it would be for the best and that this feeling was only temporary. The first day back at work I felt uneased, I sat down waiting to hear Averie ask, “Mommy?” and cooing baby Arya in the background. But I came to work with talking adults. Ha-ha. The week was filled with amazing baby gifts and welcome back talks. I needed the break from the children but throughout the day I would wonder if they needed me. That feeling quickly left as I just counted the hours until I was back home. That is what I love the most of the days after work, when I will open the door and I hear Averie say, “MOMMY, YOU FOUND ME.” and baby Arya cooing “AHHH”. This feeling would melt me every time and just then I knew it was ok.

Welcome Arya

photo_2017-08-22_18-28-31.jpgArya Rosalyn Cuevas born June 5, 2017, we are delighted to have expanded our family. She came into this world weighing 10 lb with the height of 21 in.

I am still trying to get adjusted to being a mom of two.

It’s amazing to see Averie being a big sister. I truly see the love they have for each other, even if they are still little. I have stumbled in their room and heard Averie sing her lullaby’s; if I ask her to help she is jumps up and says,”Ok mom, help.” Arya smiles and laughs with her big sister. It’s a feeling that is unexplainable until you are in it.

When they say family is everything, it sure is. Making memories are my number one priority now.
